What You Need To Know:

  • Snooze AM Eatery is holding donation-only free brunch events this weekend (Saturday/Sunday until 2:30 pm).

  • Donations received from these events will go to the Boys & Girls Club and TAMU’s Office of Sustainability.

  • Snooze’s official grand opening will be on Wednesday, August 4th.

Snooze AM Eatery will be holding its grand opening this Wednesday, August 4th at its new location in the Chimney Hill area off University Drive. Despite being a few days away from the official launch date, the restaurant has found a way to give back to the community a bit early by partnering with the Texas A&M Office of Sustainability and the Boys and Girls Club of Brazos Valley. This Saturday and Sunday only, the restaurant will be providing free breakfasts to brunch enthusiasts (alcoholic beverages available but not free) in the BCS area while only asking for donations to support their two partner organizations.

Douglas Denham, the Assistant General Manager at Snooze, described their relationship with Texas A&M’s Department of Sustainability and the Boys and Girls Club of Brazos Valley. “We partner with community partners in the area like Texas A&M Sustainability which aligns right with our sustainability programs for the earth,” said Denham. “And before we open new restaurants, what we’ll do is we’ll have them come in. It gives us practice for our servers to train before we officially open.”

Snooze’s new University Drive location features a veritable array of color, delectable daybreak delicacies, and a delightfully cheery waitstaff ready to welcome their pre-opening customers. With a sustainable mindset thoroughly ingrained in the company’s mission, Snooze has many features that will make even the most discerning nature enthusiast proud. Using all-recycled products in their restaurant, everything from the furniture to the lighting is sustainably sourced. In addition, their staff places an emphasis on composting and recycling.

“Snooze AM Eatery is a new business in town and they actually reached out to us because their corporate philosophy is one of sustainability being a core principle,” said Kelly Wellman, Sustainability Director at Texas A&M University. “They really like to partner with organizations that have similar philosophies and so they approached us and asked if we would be willing to partner.”

Originally expected to launch in July of 2020, the Denver-based breakfast/brunch eatery is now back on track after having its original opening plans derailed by Covid shutdowns. “We were supposed to be here July of 2020. We all know what happened March of 2020, so it’s definitely been a journey,” described Denham. “But I’m super excited to finally be here in College Station right in time for move-in week.”

If their pre-opening turnout shows any indication of local interest, Snooze can expect to see a steady stream of success in their new College Station location. “They were hoping to get 300-500 and, I think that we’ve probably hit almost 400 people. So we’ve had a really great turnout and folks have been really kind and generous in their gift-giving,” said Wellman.

While Snooze acknowledges that they will not be keeping any of the earnings from these pre-launch days, Denham stated that they are happy to be helping out the local community and that events like these fit perfectly within their company standards. “Our standard is that as a restaurant we want to give back to our community,” said Denham. “We don’t want to be just involved in ourselves. We want to give back to our community and our world.”
